Man in hospital with ‘critical’ injuries after interaction with Surrey RCMP officers

NEW STORY: Father of teen involved in Surrey RCMP interaction says son is on life support
SURREY (NEWS 1130) – An interaction with police has sent one person to the hospital in Surrey with “critical injuries.”
The RCMP says officers were called to the area of Fraser Highway and 159 Street for reports of a robbery just after 2 a.m. Thursday.
“Upon arrival, our members were involved in an incident which resulted in one male being transported to local area hospital,” Staff Sgt. Duane Honeyman explains.

The Independent Investigations Office, which is B.C.’s police watchdog, has now been called in to look into the matter.
Honeyman says the area of Fraser Highway and 159 Street will likely remain shut down “for a good part of the day.”
