COVID-19 outbreaks at two more Fraser Health care homes, two others over

SURREY (NEWS 1130) — COVID-19 outbreaks were confirmed at two more care homes in the Fraser Health Authority on Wednesday, while five others in the region are over.
The new outbreaks involve staff members at Fort Langley Seniors Community and Baillie House in Maple Ridge.
Fraser Health also confirmed COVID-19 cases involving staff at Evergreen Baptist Care Society in White Rock, Good Samaritan Victoria Heights in New Westminster, and Sunset Manor in Chilliwack, which were announced during the province’s COVID-19 briefing Tuesday.
“All five staff members are currently in self-isolation at their homes,” says a release from the health authority. “Enhanced control measures have been put in place at all five sites. Fraser Health is working with staff to identify anyone who may have been exposed and is taking steps to protect the health of all staff, residents and families.”

Fraser Health also declared outbreaks over at Harrison West at Elim Village in Surrey and White Rock Seniors Village. Those at the George Derby Centre in Burnaby, Langley Lodge, and Chartwell Crescent Gardens were declared over the day before.
“With the implementation of comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in care facilities, there are no longer any COVID-19 cases at these locations,” says Fraser Health.
In total, 17 long-term care or assisted-living facilities and two acute-care facilities in B.C. have active outbreaks.
