VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – If you received a package with voting information from Elections BC ahead of Saturday’s provincial election, there’s a chance it contained incorrect information about your voting place.

Election officials have issued corrections or updates for polls in nine of the province’s 87 electoral districts, one of which was for an advance voting place in Vancouver. Below are the eight voting place changes for general election day.

RELATED:

Vancouver-Point Grey: Elections BC “where to vote” cards gave the wrong address for General Gordon Elementary School. They should have said 2268 Bayswater St., rather than 2896 Baywater St. Elections BC says it has reprinted the cards and placed newspaper ads with a correction. There will also be signs at the incorrect address directing people down the street.

Coquitlam-Burke Mountain: Elections BC gave the wrong address to residents who are supposed to vote at Maple Creek Middle School. The school is at 3700 Hastings Street in Coquitlam, not 1230 Soball Street, which is the address of Leigh Elementary School. Elections BC says it reprinted “where to vote” cards with the correct address, placed newspaper ads, and will have Information officers at Leigh Elementary to direct voters to Maple Creek Middle.

Langley East: Elections BC instructed some voters to cast a ballot at R.E. Mountain Secondary School at 7755 202A Street. That is the correct address for the polling station but the incorrect name. Peter Ewart Middle School is the voting place on 202A Street. There will be signage and election officials at R.E. Mountain Secondary to direct voters to Peter Ewart Middle.

Kamloops-North Thompson: Voters who were instructed to vote at the North Thompson Indian Band Hall on Dunn Lake Road won’t be able to cast a ballot there because it’s closed. Instead, they can vote at the Barriere Lions Club at 350 Borthwick Ave. in Barriere. Elections BC says they will put up signs at the band hall to direct people to the Lions Club.

Nanaimo-North Cowichan: The S’tzuminus First Nation Community Centre at 3949 Shell Beach Road in Ladysmith is closed. Voters who were instructed to vote there can instead go to North Oyster Elementary School at 13470 Cedar Rd.

North Island: If you were told to vote at the Holberg Community Hall on Main Street, you won’t be able to do so. Instead, you can go to the Post Office at 1 Sea View Dr. in Holberg. Elections BC says it has already notified affected voters of the change.

Prince George-Valemount: Voting information packages gave the incorrect address for the Willow River Community Hall. It’s at 55 Willow Ave., not 524 Railway Ave., both addresses are for different entrances to the same building. Signage will direct voters to the correct door.

Saanich North and the Islands: The Gathering Strength Community Facility at 7728 Tetayut Rd. in Central Saanich is closed. If you were told to vote there, you can instead go to Saanichton Bible Fellowship at 2159 Mt. Newton Cross Rd. Elections BC says it has notified affected voters.
