VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — While most of the electoral districts’ winners are clear, there are four races still way too close to call.
Four ridings will be decided by mail-in and absentee ballots.
In Chilliwack-Kent, incumbent Laurie Throness is running for re-election after a number of controversies including one where he compared birth control to eugenics.
In mid-October, Throness resigned from the party during the campaign but he was still listed as a Liberal on the ballot.
If he wins, Throness says he will go to the legislature as an independent.
But Chilliwack-Kent could fall to NDP Kelli Paddon, a candidate with a background as an advocate for people with developmental disabilities.
Throness is in second place as of Sunday afternoon with just about 200 votes separating him and the NDP candidate.
Another tight race is taking place in Richmond South Centre as B.C. Liberal candidate Alexa Loo and NDP candidate Henry Yao are separated by a little over 100 votes.
The outcome in Vernon-Monashee and Abbotsford-Mission also remains unclear.
