CEO of Great Canadian Gaming resigns after accusations of Yukon trip for COVID-19 vaccine

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — The CEO of the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation is stepping down after accusations he flew to the Yukon to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Rod Baker and his wife, Ekaterina, apparently flew to the Yukon over the weekend, to jump the line for the COVID-19 vaccine.
The couple reportedly flew from Vancouver, where they live, to the remote Yukon community of Beaver Creek, where they received the Moderna vaccine.
They were supposed to isolate for 14 days upon arrival, as per the territory’s public health rules. But they apparently didn’t, and were each fined $575.
Tickets issued to Rodney Baker and his wife Ekaterina in #Whitehorse confirm hi is 55-years old and she is 32.

Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth calls the “moral lapse in judgement” despicable.
“It is beyond comprehension how someone could go to such lengths to do such a disgusting thing when the vaccines are being rolled out. Every Canadian who wants to be vaccinated is going to be able to be vaccinated. It’s just an unbelievable case of a sense entitlement,” he tells NEWS 1130.

He said there aren’t many actions B.C. can take, however, “I think the fact the individual lost a $10-million a year job is a bigger penalty than probably anything the province (B.C.) could apply.”
