SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Police are looking to identify a man accused of sexual assault in Surrey against a youth.
Mounties say the incident happened on Thursday just before 1 p.m. at a park in Newton. Two youths were at the park along 64 Avenue when one of them was “groped from behind by an unknown man.”
The minor was not physically hurt and reported what happened to the RCMP.
Investigators say the man is described as South Asian and was wearing an orange turban, white scarf around his mouth, a grey hooded sweatshirt, “traditional pants,” and sneakers at the time of the incident.
The assault prompted a warning to parents of Panorama Ridge Secondary students, with the school’s principal sharing the RCMP release with them, directing parents to contact the school in case they had any questions or concerns.
The RCMP is asking anyone who may be able to identify the suspect to contact them at 604.599.0502. You can also reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.
