Abbotsford woman wakes up, finds man climbing ladder to her balcony

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – Abbotsford Police is out with a warning after a disturbing trespassing incident in the city.
It happened early Wednesday morning near Water St. and Robertson Ave. Police say at around 4:30 a.m., a woman woke up to find a stranger climbing a ladder propped onto her second-floor apartment balcony railing. When the man saw the woman, he quickly climbed down and ran away.
Police say it looks like ladder had been stolen from a nearby work vehicle, adding it’s not clear what the man’s intentions were.
The suspect is described as a heavy-set man who is around 6’0″. He was wearing a dark jacket and grey sweatpants with a pair of shorts pulled over them.

Police are reminding you to keep balcony doors and accessible windows locked, and to not keep bikes or anything else valuable outside. If work tools and gear needs to be kept in a vehicle overnight, police note they should be locked inside the vehicle.
