VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — ICBC says there will be a delay to COVID-19 rebate cheques because of a cyberattack.
The attack was against a third-party vendor contracted to provide printing and distribution services that held information such as customer names, addresses, rebate amounts and cheque numbers. But ICBC says there is no indication that information has been accessed.

“Ensuring the safety and security of customers’ information is our top priority. We are actively monitoring the situation with the vendor and will work with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (OIPC) if any information has been obtained,” a release reads.
ICBC says they are “optimistic” the delay will be minimal, and will try to find a way to issue cheques in the coming weeks.
Cheques were supposed to be mailed out this week.
