Canucks’ Adam Gaudette confirmed to be in NHL’s COVID-19 protocol

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Canucks are expecting to go ahead with Wednesday night’s game against the Calgary Flames, despite a Vancouver player confirmed to have COVID-19.
But that could change if Vancouver Coastal Health gets involved before puck drop.
Canucks Head Coach Travis Green has confirmed that Adam Gaudette is in the NHL’s mandated COVID-19 protocol but he stopped short of divulging whether or not the positive test is of a variant of concern.
“I’m not going to get into personal stuff with Adam Gaudette,” he said. “I’m not going to get into what why Montreal was shut down. That’s between Montreal and the league. We’re preparing to play and planning to do so.”

The Montreal Canadiens were shut down for a week after a player came back positive for a variant.
Gaudette will be required to self-isolate for 10 days.
The league’s rules require players and staff to be tested daily and any time an individual’s initial test comes back positive, the lab does a second test on the initial sample.
If the second test is negative, a second sample is collected. If that second sample returns a positive result, it is considered to be a “confirmed positive.”
The league requires individuals who test positive to self isolate for 10 days, and for close contacts to self isolate for 14 days.
