Woman, dog die in Maple Ridge house fire

MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS 1130) – A woman and a dog are dead after a house fire near Dewdney Trunk Road and 232 Street in Maple Ridge.
The fire broke out around 9 p.m. Tuesday night on Stephens Street. When police and firefighters arrived, smoke was billowing from the home.
Witnesses reported a woman and dog were trapped inside. Their bodies were later found inside the home.
A cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
“Any time there is a fire related death police will activate an investigation in parallel with the fire department,” Ridge Meadows Const. Julie Klaussner said.
The victim has not been identified, as police notify the family.
