VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — One person has been badly injured after a fire broke out at a grain silo at the Port of Vancouver Friday afternoon.

Assistant Chief Ken Gemmill with Vancouver Fire Rescue Services says they were called to the Alliance Grain Terminal around 3:45 p.m.

“We found one of the employees had fairly significant second-degree burns,” he says.

“The engineers here called it a dust explosion.”

A spokesperson for the port has confirmed the fire but could not provide more details.
