NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A local bakery has started a sweet initiative to support the victims of the Lynn Valley Library stabbing attacks last month.
The cookies from Katie Marie Cakes have phrases like ‘Lynn Valley Strong’ and ‘North Vancouver We Stand Together’ written on them.
Owner, Katie Houck, who is a lifelong North Vancouver resident, said making cookies was the least she could do.
“I honestly felt horrible and I didn’t know what to do,” she said. “I was talking to my sister and I saw this logo of the north van cares, and I thought I really wanna do something, I can make a cookie out of that logo, and it honestly just snowballed.”

Houck says she started selling the cookies last Thursday, and has already raised over $6,000.
“All of the proceeds are going to the victims, I am doing this initiative all out of my own pocket.”
Houck paired up with the non-profit Central Lonsdale to make sure the proceeds go to the right place. The Lynn Valley/North Van strong boxes have six cookies and are being sold for $25 each.
You can also pay it forward and purchase a box to donate to the victims, their families, first responders, and the businesses of Lynn Valley Square.
