Music on Main goes online with free virtual music festival

VANCOUVER (CityNews) – They say music is food for the soul, and a virtual music festival during this circuit-breaker could be exactly what many souls across B.C. need.

Known for putting on over 500 events in the heart of the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood and throughout the colourful venues of Metro Vancouver, Music on Main is in its 15th season. This year, they’re offering a free online festival entitled “Listening. Together.” to audiences around the globe.

“Music on Main remains committed to bringing audiences and artists together through exceptional digital and in-person musical experiences in ways that feel safe, inviting, and welcoming,” Marnie Wilson, a spokesperson for the event, says.

The five-day event will run from May 14 to 18, and will feature music and conversations with musicians such as an eclectic percussion duo, a rising star violinist, a flutist, and many other talented and passionate musicians.

“No matter where you are in the world, for five days you can experience online performances by top-flight artists, listen to artist talks, and experience opportunities to learn about music,” Wilson says.

In a press release, the event is earmarked as an “opportunity to connect with the artists’ personal performances that take you on an emotional journey.”
