PORT MOODY (NEWS 1130) – Support continues to pour in for a Port Moody family, days after homicide investigators confirmed Trina Hunt’s remains were found in Hope, putting an end to the months-long search for her.

Flowers, pictures, and candles are being left outside Hunt’s home, after the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team provided the update Saturday afternoon.

IHIT’s update was significant, but brief. Investigators say foul play is suspected, noting the remains were found more than a month ago, on March 29. However, few other details have been shared.

“It is with shattered hearts that we let you know that our beloved Trina has been found in Hope,” a statement from Hunt’s family reads.

Her loved ones also extended their gratitude to the “community of friends, family and strangers (who now feel like friends)” who stepped up to help in the search for the Port Moody woman in the months since she was last seen.

“Your words, thoughts, kindness and outpouring of love are truly what has kept us going these past 3.5 months,” the statement continues. “We need your love and support more than ever right now.

“Trina, we love you, and we will never let your sparkle fade from this world.”

A banner that was strung at the Rocky Point Overpass pleading for information on Hunt’s whereabouts was taken down shortly after the update was provided.

This case has now been reclassified as a homicide investigation, and IHIT says it will be working with Port Moody Police. Previously, Port Moody police said they did not believe foul play was involved in her disappearance.

Hunt’s husband reported her missing on Jan. 18 after he said he returned to work to find their home empty. He said he had seen her that morning.
