Kamloops fire Captain presumed dead following scuba diving accident in Okanagan Lake

KAMLOOPS (NEWS 1130) — A fire Captain with Kamloops Fire Rescue is presumed dead after a scuba diving accident this weekend in Okanagan Lake.

According to his family, Brian Lannon, 53, went on a recreational dive with his scuba partner on Saturday, and the first dive of the day went smoothly.

But Lannon got separated during the second dive and did not resurface which prompted a search that has now become a recovery effort.

He had been in the area that weekend with his wife of twenty years.

Lannon had been a Captain with Kamloops Fire since 1994.

In a statement, the family says he was a beloved husband, son, brother, and uncle, as well as a friend to many.
