B.C. records 317 COVID-19 cases, two deaths

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 in B.C. has gone up slightly, as the province reports 317 new cases in the past day.
There are 292 COVID patients in the hospital, up from 286 on Thursday. However, the number of ICU patients decreased from 88 to 79 on Friday.
Two more people have died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, for a total of 1,692 deaths since the pandemic began.

On the vaccine front, 73,458 doses were administered in the past day, for a total of 3,106,269 since the COVID-19 vaccination program began. Of those, 160,885 are second doses.
“This means 67.2 per cent of all adults and 62.7 per cent of those aged 12 and older have now received their first dose,” reads a joint statement from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix.
On Thursday, Henry announced B.C. is shortening the wait between the first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccine for those who receive Pfizer or Moderna for their first shot. They will only have to wait eight weeks to be fully inoculated.
