COVID-19 outbreak closes Surrey Islamic school

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at a school in Surrey, prompting the school to shut down temporarily.
Fraser Health made the announcement after 21 positive cases, involving students and staff at Iqra Islamic School.
“Fraser Health is collaborating with the school and FISA [Federation of Independent Schools Association] as part of the outbreak response,” a statement from Fraser Health says.

The facility will stay closed until all contact tracing is completed by public health.
Fraser Health is reminding people living in the Fraser region that it is still important to use the COVID-19 assessment tool and get tested if you have mild symptoms.
“Please don’t wait,” the statement says.
Anyone over the age of 12 is now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine in B.C.
