Maple Ridge crash sends two to hospital

MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS 1130) – An RCMP helicopter was sent to the scene of a multi-car crash in Maple Ridge Monday night that sent two people to the hospital.
Three cars were involved in the collision, which happened at around 11:30 p.m. on Lougheed Highway near 287 Street. One vehicle ended up going 20 metres down an embankment and the driver was trapped inside.
Fire crews, paramedics, and police went to the scene, including the RCMP’s Air 1 helicopter. The man was safely pulled from the vehicle.
One person was airlifted to the hospital, while another was taken there in an ambulance. Both are expected to be okay. A third person walked away from the crash without any injuries.
Investigators are still looking into whether any of the vehicles crossed into oncoming traffic. They are also trying to work out if anyone was speeding.
Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.
