Evacuation order issued for Pavilion Lake area as McKay Creek fire grows

LILLOOET (NEWS 1130) — People are being told to evacuate the Pavilion Lake and West Pavilion areas due to wildfires in the region.
The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) issued the orders late Thursday.
An evacuation order has now been issued for the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District for the Pavilion Lake Area and West Pavilion.

Areas affected
The order for the Pavilion Lake area covers the following areas:
- Pavilion-Clinton Road, between Hwy 99 and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District
- Carson Ranch Road
- Pearl Lake Road
- Shinta Road
- Pavilion Ferry Road
- All properties outlined on the attached map here
The order for the West Pavilion area covers the following areas:
- West Pavilion Road from the 14 km mark to the SLRD border with Thompson Nicola Regional District
- All properties outline on the attached map here
A spokesperson for the SLRD said the evacuation area for the McKay Creek wildfire has been expanded.
People are being encouraged to evacuate through Lillooet and make their way towards Whistler where emergency accommodations are available.
