LYTTON (NEWS 1130) — Some good Samaritans are working to collect donations for firefighters battling the wildfire in Lytton, as well as residents.
Andrew Bessem is an organizer for Aldergrove Lytton Relief set up at the FreshCo parking lot in Aldergrove, at 275 Street and Fraser Highway.
“We’re collecting food donations. We’re collecting water, Gatorade and small snacks for the firefighters themselves. Because it’s pretty hard to get those,” he says, adding they are also asking people to donate pet food, toiletries, non-perishable foods and clean bedding.

One truck has already made its way to Kamloops to the release center. But Bessem says, hopefully, more trucks will head on over as well.
“They need a lot of stuff. And of course, the firefighters they need refreshments … to keep them going,” he says.
Bessem says cash donations are also welcome to pay for groceries at FreshCo and cover the cost of gas for the deliveries.
“We all have to come together with us and help other brothers and sisters,” Bessem says, adding he is grateful for his community which is coming together to help out in any way they can.
