LeVar Burton to make ‘Jeopardy!’ debut Monday night

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — The former host of Reading Rainbow will make his highly-anticipated Jeopardy! hosting debut Monday night.

LeVar Burton, 64, is the latest in a series of guest hosts, as the long-running game show tries to find a successor to the late Alex Trebek.

Burton’s shot only came after more than 250,000 people signed a petition begging the producers to make him the next host.

And there’s a charity effort attached to this week’s shows. Jeopardy! will be matching the total winnings of all the contestants, and donating it to Reading is Fundamental — a literacy group that provides free books to kids.
