NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Police had traffic blocked in both directions on Highway 1 Tuesday night due to an incident near Lonsdale Avenue.
Just after 9 p.m., the RCMP received reports that a crash had led to two motorists fighting under the overpass.
“There was sufficient evidence for our officers who arrived on scene to arrest one of those individuals,” Sgt. Peter Devries told NEWS 1130.
He says police were forced to close down that stretch of Highway 1 as a precaution.
The incident has now been cleared and the highway reopened.

Eastbound traffic was being detoured onto Westview Drive and westbound motorists were being detoured onto Lonsdale Avenue. Those detours remained in place until just after 3 a.m.
The Lonsdale overpass was also closed for several hours as a result.
