Kerrisdale house fire challenging Vancouver crews

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A house fire in Kerrisdale is proving challenging for Vancouver firefighters Thursday night.

Crews were called to a second-alarm fire in the area of Vine Street near West 49 Avenue around 9:30.

Assistant Chief Brian Bertuzzi says the people who live in the single-family detached home were not hurt.

“It’s an occupied home, we’ve completed a search. Nobody’s here. There’s no injuries or anything like that at this time,” he says, adding there’s no threat to neighbouring homes.

“It’s contained to one house and we’re just chasing the fire right now, it’s up in the attic space. It’s a stubborn fire in an older house. We’re just chasing spot fires, there’s lots of smoke. We’re making headway.”
