HOPE (NEWS 1130) — A section of the Trans-Canada Highway running through the Fraser Canyon reopened Wednesday afternoon.
DriveBC is advising motorists to “watch for loose gravel and reduced speeds.” The 35-kilometre stretch between Hope and Spences Bridge was shut down in both directions Monday night.
One of the trucks stuck at the #BChwy1 mudslide, 13 km north of #Lytton. No injuries.
Crews work to safely remove the truck ensuring no contaminates made their way into the ThompsonRiver.

B.C. officials are still advising people in the province to avoid travel to any areas affected by wildfires to keep the routes clear, and ensure space for potential evacuees. The mudslide coincided with the first significant rainfall in weeks, something welcomed by crews fighting wildfires during what has been an extremely hot and dry summer.
