Random assaults on several women in Burnaby, New Westminster under investigation

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) — Police in Burnaby and New Westminster are asking for help identifying a suspect after a string of unprovoked assaults.
Investigators say several women reported the random attacks last week.
On Aug. 30, an unknown man attacked a 25-year-old woman by the intersection of Edmonds Street and Canada Way, wrestling her to the ground. The victim did not know the subject, Burnaby RCMP said in a release Wednesday. Police believe she was followed for a short distance before the assault.

Police received similar reports in New Westminster on Saturday and Burnaby on Wednesday. In all three cases, the female victims were not physically injured.

The male suspect’s is described as between 16 to 22 years of age with tanned skin, and black, wavy hair.
He’s approximately 5’8″ and was last spotted wearing a black hoodie, light coloured jeans, and black running shoes.
“Burnaby RCMP Serious Crime unit is actively investigating these incidents and working diligently to identify and locate the person responsible for these assaults,” says Corporal Mike Kalanj of the Burnaby RCMP. “We’re asking anyone with information to contact our investigators.”
