Man stabbed at Burnaby SkyTrain station

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) — A man has been sent to hospital after a stabbing at a busy Burnaby SkyTrain station late Thursday night.
It happened at the Lougheed SkyTrain Station before 9 p.m.. Metro Vancouver Transit Police say the victim’s injuries are serious, but not life-threatening.
Police say the victim approached a group that was smashing bottles onto the sidewalk below, trying to get them to stop their dangerous behaviour.
“One of the men in the group shoved the man to the ground. As he rose to his feet he was allegedly attacked by the whole group who began throwing punches. The victim attempted to defend himself, but at some point noticed that he had been stabbed and was bleeding profusely,” police said Friday morning in a release.

By Friday morning, transit had resumed normal service along that line and crime scene tape had been removed.
Metro Vancouver Transit Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred last night at Lougheed SkyTrain Station. One man remains in hospital with serious, but non-life threatening, injuries. No further updates at this time, media release to follow.
