The platform on Miao’s website says he grew up in Richmond Centre after immigrating there with his parents from Hong Kong as a child. A business person with a degree in his field, he still lives and works there with his family.
“Wilson will be a tireless advocate and voice for Richmond’s many communities in Ottawa,” reads the platform statement on his website. “As a first-generation Canadian, Wilson understands the limitless possibilities Canada represents for its newcomers.”
In the statement, he also vowed to uphold “the quintessentially Canadian values of diversity and inclusion.”
This Liberal win follows the loss of a Green seat to the NDP for Nanaimo-Ladysmith on Friday.
