East Vancouver water main breaks early Friday

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A water main break resulted in some road closures in Vancouver early Friday morning.

The break happened at Commercial Drive and Powell Street in the early hours of the day and sent water flooding onto the road way. While Powell Street was shut down for some time, it has since reopened.

A small closure remains in place on a dead-end section of Commercial.

City crews are still working to fix the issue and will remain on scene until that and clean up is completed.

According to the city, no one was hurt and there are no safety concerns as a result of the break.

It’s unclear what caused the water main break or when exactly it will be repaired.
