Snow expected for Southern Interior highways Thanksgiving weekend

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — If you’re heading to the Southern Interior for Thanksgiving dinner, you might want to give yourself some extra time to get there.

Snow is expected on many highways in that part of the province, prompting special weather statements from Environment Canada.

Thirteen advisories have been issued by the agency, affecting areas on the Trans-Canada and Coquihalla highways, plus Highway 3 and the Okanagan Connector.

Up to 10 cm of snow is expected in some of these areas and the weather agency is advising drivers to travel with caution, as weather patterns can change quickly.

The seasonal winter tire mandate for all passenger vehicles has been in effect since Oct. 1.
