Man kidnapped from Vancouver’s Oakridge area

Vancouver police have released surveillance video of a man they believe was kidnapped on Sept. 23 near West 41 Avenue and Elizabeth Street. Jeffrey Lee, 33, was last seen by his girlfriend around 10 p.m. as he left her downtown apartment.

Vancouver police are hoping you can help them find a man believed to have been kidnapped from the city’s Oakridge area last month.

Jeffrey Lee was last seen by his girlfriend at around 10 p.m. on Sept. 23 as he left her downtown apartment. Police say he was going to the Oakridge neighbourhood to gamble.

Investigators think he drove a black BMW X5 and parked near W. 41 Ave. and Elizabeth St., then went to a nearby highrise to meet friends.

Surveillance video shows Lee going into the building around 10:15 p.m., then leaving the next day around 4 a.m.

“We believe Lee was abducted by force and taken to an unknown location,” Sgt. Steve Addison said.

Police think he was kidnapped as he got back into his car, as the vehicle was found the next day with the driver-side door wide open.

“Although we’ve gathered a significant amount of evidence during the past four weeks and feel we are close to solving this case, there are still people with information who need to come forward,” Addison said.

Lee was last seen wearing a dark-coloured Hugo Boss hoodie, with black shorts, flip-flops, and a grey shoulder bag. He had short black hair and facial stubble.

“We don’t know exactly why he was kidnapped, but we know there are people out there who have information, and we’re asking them to come forward now,” Addison added.

If you saw Lee the night of the kidnapping or have any information that could help investigators, you’re asked to call Vancouver Police Department’s Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541.
