Charges laid after Calgary student stabbed at Bishop McNally

Charges have been laid after a Calgary student was stabbed at a northeast high school.

Police and paramedics say they were called to Bishop McNally High School Wednesday morning around 11:55 a.m.

A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital in stable, non-life-threatening condition.

The school was locked down for a while as police searched for a suspect.

The Calgary Catholic School District says all other students at Bishop McNally are safe.

On Wednesday evening, police provided an update, saying a 15-year-old is believed to have been responsible for the stabbing.

That suspect has now been charged with assault with a weapon.

They will not be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
