Vancouver-born actor and potter Seth Rogen is trying to make a trade with fellow local artist Jag Nagra for a Vancouver Canucks Diwali jersey she designed.
Nagra tells CityNews that she’s shocked and thrilled Rogen is hoping to make a trade with one of his handmade vases for the limited edition jersey.
“I think one of my favourite things about him is how much he represents Vancouver. It genuinely seems like he loves Vancouver and always tries to promote it. So I think it’s so cool. And the fact that I’m kind of tangled up in this right now is just the icing on the cake of everything that this whole project has been so far. It’s wild.”

Nagra says she received a direct message from the actor and is working on a way to get him his own jersey.
The Canucks will be wearing Diwali-inspired jerseys during the warm-up designed by the South Asian artist.
After the game, these jerseys will be available for auction at vanbase.ca.

Rogen’s experimental pottery work has gained widespread praise.
Earlier this year, Rogen donated his orange vase to the Vancouver Art Gallery’s 2021 Art Auction Spring Forward. His creation was sold at auction and the textured vase fetched more than its estimated $5,000 value. It was sold for $12,000.

Since Rogen tweeted about his interest in the jersey and privately messaged her, Nagra says in the excitement of it all, she realizes this proposal to trade art is “such honour.”
“I started to teach myself how to draw in 2012. And it’s taken many, many years to find my voice as an artist, find my style, find what I stand for. And the fact that all these years later, like I’m finally slowly starting to get the recognition,” she says. “A lot of hard work I’ve put into it. So it feels amazing. I don’t even know how to describe it. Just the journey has been wild.”
While she’s got two jerseys, Nagra says she wants to save them for her own children and is hoping the Canucks will find a way to give the actor a jersey.
“It’d be so awesome to see him wearing one of the jerseys, though, right?”
The jerseys worn by the Canucks will be available for auction after Friday’s game with partial proceeds going to help revitalize the Punjabi Market in South Vancouver.
