A fire broke out at an RV holding centre in Abbotsford Wednesday morning, as much of the community deals with record flooding. Dozens of RVs were on fire just east of the Whatcom Exit near Highway 1.
At about 2 p.m., Abbotsford police reported the fire was completely out.
The large structure fire this AM at North Parallel Road / Sumas Mt Road is now under control and out. This truly was a team effort from all involved to prevent further damage and spread. Thanks @BCRCMP’s Air 1 police helicopter #eyeinthesky #strengthincommunity pic.twitter.com/mAhWTVeDWc

Crews fighting the fire had to be mindful of the powerlines in the area, with Abbotsford Fire Chief Darren Lee noting they were working to keep the fire from spreading to the nearby propane filling station.
The fire engulfed much of the facility, setting at least 100 recreational vehicles ablaze. The flames also sent thick, dark smoke towering into the air.
Residents were asked to keep their doors closed if they were seeing smoke in their area.
Callers reported hearing massive explosions.
Images from the air showed the facility completely surrounded by water.
Abbotsford police say no injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is not yet clear.
