COVID-19: B.C. records 468 cases, 9 deaths

In the last day, B.C. recorded another nine deaths and for the first time this week, over 400 cases.

Another 468 people have been infected with the virus for a total of 3,345 active cases across the province Thursday

Fraser Health is still recording the highest number of cases of any health authority — recording 173 new cases and five deaths.

Interior Health recorded 85 cases and one death, Island Health recorded 72 cases and one death as well. In Northern Health 68 cases were recorded and two people died. Vancouver Coastal recorded the least amount of cases — 69.

Of the active cases, there are 355 people in hospital — including 110 people in critical care, that’s up by one since Wednesday.

Vaccination numbers have been slowly rising this week with nearly 91 per cent of eligible people having one shot and 87 per cent now fully vaccinated.

The outbreak in the rehabilitation unit at Queen’s Park Care Centre is over.

Long-Term Care: Rosemary Heights Seniors Village, Tabor Home, Cascade Gardens, Maplewood House, George Derby Centre, Dufferin Care Centre (Fraser Health); Amica Edgemont (Vancouver Coastal Health); Village by the Station, Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre, Sun Pointe Village (Interior Health); Peace Villa (Northern Health); and
Chartwell Malaspina Care Residence (Island Health)

Acute Care: Queen’s Park Care Centre, Abbotsford Regional Hospital, Burnaby Hospital, Ridge Meadows Hospital (Fraser Health); Royal Inland Hospital (Interior Health); and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (Island Health)

Assisted or Independent Living: Harrison Pointe, The Cedars and Revera Parkwood Manor (Fraser Health)
