Pet owners displaced by floods in B.C. are being offered support by animal welfare groups.
The Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) says it will be offering boarding and pet supplies to dog and cat owners affected by the disaster.
A support fund for emergencies like this is also available to help those in need, and the society is asking anyone who is able to donate.
“These funds will be utilized for disaster relief including but not limited to compassion boarding, resourcing those in need, vet care, and providing any flood related emergency support those with animals in need,” LAPS says in a Facebook post.
In addition to money, the Langley Animal Protection Society is also collecting donations of pet food, beds, and other supplies.
Anyone who needs support for their pet is asked to email info@LAPSBC.ca or reach out to LAPS on social media. Those who are unable to get to the shelter to pick up items are also asked to contact the group for assistance.
The BC SPCA is also working to help pet owners who have been impacted by the flooding across the province.
“The BC SPCA has already begun emergency boarding for pets of evacuees at our location in Kamloops and we are providing supplies and pet food for those who have been displaced,” the organization’s Geoff Urton said in a release. “Shelter animals are being transferred out of the Kamloops facility into other SPCA locations in the Okanagan to make more room for emergency boarding of incoming pets.”
