Highway 1 reopens from Hope to North of Boston Bar

After being closed to due flooding, Highway 1 between Hope and Boothroyd — just North of Boston Bar — reopened Sunday evening, which the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure says will help connect communities across the Lower Mainland.

There are sections of single-lane alternating traffic, so drivers should expect delays, the ministry said.
In the meantime, maintenance crews will continue removing debris and repairing road surfaces to restore the highway.

“While this section of Highway 1 through the Yale, Spuzzum and Boston Bar communities areas does not currently fall under the Province’s Travel Restrictions Order, drivers are asked to limit travel to essential purposes only while cleanup and repairs continue,” the ministry wrote in a statement.
It’s a promising development for highway recovery efforts in B.C. after extreme weather caused flooding, mudslides, and extensive damage.
