A worker at BC Women’s Hospital in Vancouver is accused of pretending to be a registered nurse while caring for patients. She’s also accused of impersonating a healthcare worker in Ottawa.
Police believe Brigitte Cleroux used the name of a real nurse as she worked at the hospital between June 2020 and June 2021. Investigators claim the employee used the fraudulent identity as she provided medical care.
“We don’t yet know how many people in Vancouver may have received treatment … but we’re working with the Provincial Health Services Authority to identify patients who may have had contact with her,” said Const. Tania Visintin.

Cleroux, 49, is also accused of pretending to be a nurse at a medical and dental clinic in Ottawa.
“Some of those duties included the administration of medications, including injections, to patients,” Ottawa police said in a Sept. 1 statement.
In that city, she’s accused of using aliases and assumed the identities of registered nurses.
Cleroux has been charged with fraud over $5,000 and personation with intent. She remains in police custody until her next court appearance.
