Flood warning over for Nooksack River in Washington state

The latest projections for the Nooksack River in Washington state suggest the worst of the flooding may be over as of Tuesday.
The US Geological Survey, which monitors river levels in the state, is forecasting some minor flooding of the river over the next day.
However, Northwest Field Office Chief John Greene says the flooding brought on by this latest blast of rain won’t be nearly as substantial as it was over the weekend, particularly on the upper levels of the Nooksack, near Sumas.
“Typically on these floods the higher in the basin the flood event is quick. It’s a sharp rise and a sharp drop. And as that water moves down through the basin, all the way out to Ferndale it attenuates out. And so we’ll get a longer flood event, but it may not show the same volume of flow at the peak.”
