10 Omicron COVID-19 cases identified in B.C.

The total number of Omicron cases detected in British Columbia has risen to 10 — with cases identified in the Vancouver Coastal, Fraser, and Island Health regions.
According to Friday’s update from provincial health officials, there have been 437 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, and three more people have died.
Island Health saw the highest number of new infections with 127. In Fraser Health, there were 105, in Interior Health there were 93, in Vancouver Coastal there were 90, and in Northern Health there were 22. One person who passed away was in Fraser Health, one in Vancouver Coastal, and one in Island Health.

The number of people hospitalized is down, from 220 on Thursday to 211 Friday. There are 72 people in intensive care, down from 73 Thursday.
The outbreak at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver has been declared over, bringing the number of outbreaks at healthcare facilities down to four.
On the vaccination front, 82.2 per cent of those five and older have received two doses, while 86 per cent have had one shot. Thirteen per cent of eligible adults have received a third, booster shot.
