B.C. man facing charges related to deadly summer crash west of Calgary

A B.C. man is facing charges including dangerous driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death after a deadly crash west of Calgary this summer.

In mid-August, a multi-vehicle crash claimed the lives of a couple in their 70s from Alberta along the busy Trans-Canada highway.

RCMP say the accused was driving a five-ton-truck east on Hwy. 1, west of Morley, when allegedly drove through the grass median and into oncoming traffic.

A passenger was also inside the truck at the time and they were among those injured in the crash, along with two others.

Police say the truck collided head-on with a white car, a semi-truck that was travelling westbound was unable to avoid the crash and rear-ended the car, while another vehicle that was also travelling westbound struck the semi-truck.

The occupants of the white car, a 75-year-old woman and a 78-year-old man from Invermere, were killed in the crash.

The wreck closed down a section of highway one for around nine hours.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 50-year-old Christopher Raymond Boucha from New Westminster.

Cochrane RCMP say they are in the process of making arrangements for the B.C. man to be processed in Alberta.
