BC Ferries cancels sailings due to high winds

It was expected to be a busy day of travel on the coast, but adverse weather conditions caused BC Ferries to cancel and delay several sailings Sunday.
Saturday night, they gave travelers a “heads up” on Twitter that service could be impacted by high winds, rain, and snow — and they were right.
All sailings out of Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay were cancelled from 3:45 p.m. onwards. All sailings out of Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay were cancelled from 11:00 am on.

The Spirit of Vancouver Island, Spirit of British Columbia, Salish Raven, Mayne Queen, and Coastal Celebration also cancelled sailings due to high winds.
Around 3 p.m., BC Ferries cancelled all remaining sailings from Cortes Island to Quadra Island and Campbell River to Quadra Island as well.
“The safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us. We don’t take the decision to cancel sailings lightly, as we know customers rely on us to get to their destinations. We will resume service as soon as it is safe to do so,” said a statement from BC Ferries.
