B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation says Highway 1 between Lytton and Spences Bridge will partially reopen on Friday.
The Trans Canada will allow movement for all vehicle types, unlike the Coquihalla Highway, which is still limited to commercial vehicles only. There will be a restriction to trucks with loads longer than 25 metres in length.
Crews have been working to clear, repair and reopen the highway, which was damaged in 15 places between Hope and Spences Bridge by heavy rain and flooding in November.
While it will be operational, motorists are urged to drive to conditions and be prepared for delays.
#BCHwy1 re-opens (partially) to general travel, #Lytton to #SpencesBridge, tomorrow. Commercial vehicle 25m length limit. Expect delays: single-lane areas, lower speeds, construction. (#HopeBC to #Boothroyd still local travel only –

The province says there will be reduced speeds and work zones, ongoing construction, and snowy conditions, all of which may add about two hours to the travel time.
However, work is far from over to permanently repair the route. The province says it is designing and planning construction of long-term solutions.
Highway 1 between Lytton and Hope is still closed, as work has been delayed because of record snowfall and the risk of avalanches.
