Four porta-potties in Nanaimo B.C. were set on fire within four hours earlier this month. RCMP are investigating the incident as an arson.
On Sunday, Jan. 16, fires were set near Seventh Street and Old Victoria Road around 7:20 p.m., near Commercial and Wharf streets around 7:50 p.m. Bastion and Skinner streets around 10 p.m. and Terminal and Victoria Crescent just before midnight.
“It appears that several were most likely started by one person and that a vehicle or other means of transport was used,” said Const. Gary O’Brien.
Mounties say firefighters were able to put the fires out quickly and the portable toilets were not destroyed.
Investigators say they have yet to hear from a direct witness and no arrests have been made. However, investigators have identified several people of interest.
Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
