A City of Vancouver worker has been seriously hurt on the job.
According to a statement, the sanitation employee was involved in an “accident” on Sunday.
The person was taken to the hospital, where it appears they are still being treated. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
“We are hopeful for a positive recovery,” the statement reads.
No details as to what exactly led to the worker’s injuries were released, but the city says it is looking into the matter, as is WorkSafeBC.
This incident comes just weeks after another city employee was killed in a workplace incident at the National Works Yard in Vancouver.
It happened on Jan. 7 and involved a 64-year-old long-time employee in the engineering streets division.
We’re deeply saddened to share the loss of a member of our Engineering Streets team, Gord Dolyniuk, in a workplace accident on Friday. Our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends and colleagues. We appreciate Gord’s 32 years of service to the residents of Vancouver. /1 pic.twitter.com/OV7NcDfp1L
