Two men taken to hospital with serious injuries after a shooting in Surrey Friday evening are now in stable condition according to Surrey RCMP.

In an updated statement Saturday, Mounties are confirming the shooting in Newton is related to the Lower Mainland gang conflict and the drug trade.

Officers were called to the area of 80B Avenue and 122A Street around 6:45 p.m.

“Two people were located with serious injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. Both adult male victims were transported to hospital for medical treatment,” says a statement from Surrey RCMP.

One of the men had an outstanding warrant and has since been arrested.

“It is believed the suspect(s) fled the area in a vehicle.”

Police said they don’t have a description of either the vehicle or the suspects.

Mounties haven’t identified a suspect, but have confirmed a burned-out vehicle found in Delta a few kilometres away from the shooting is likely the getaway vehicle.

Police are calling on the public to reach out if they have any information about the incident or if they have CCTV footage. You can call the Surrey RCMP at (604) 599-0502.
