The Canadian Prime Minister has tested positive for COVID-19. Trudeau, who is already in self-isolation, says he caught it from one of his children.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he has tested positive for COVID-19.

“I’m feeling fine – and I’ll continue to work remotely this week while following public health guidelines,” he tweeted, adding that he tested positive on Monday morning.

Trudeau revealed last Thursday that he was going into isolation for five days after finding out the previous evening he had been in contact with someone who tested positive. He urged all Canadians to get vaccinated and get boosted.

He told The Canadian Press on Friday that it was because one of his three children had tested positive for COVID-19.

Trudeau has not said which of his three children has tested positive or how they’re doing.

The Prime Minister held a press conference on Monday saying he isn’t planning to meet with the protesters involved in the truck convoy against vaccine mandates.

He says while he has attended rallies in the past, he has chosen not to go anywhere near protests that have expressed hateful rhetoric and endorsed violence toward fellow citizens.

“Canadians know where I stand,” Trudeau said, adding that 90 per cent of Canadian truckers have been “doing the right thing” to keep Canadians safe and “put food on our tables.”
