Arson at Surrey apartment building, RCMP seek two suspects

Police in Surrey are looking for two people who may be responsible for an arson in the city’s Guildford area.

The fire broke out at about 3 a.m. Tuesday at an apartment building on 150 Street near 105 Avenue. Crews quickly put out the fire, which was in the hallway of the building. They then discovered another fire was lit outside, but put out before firefighters arrived.

No one was hurt, but RCMP believe the fires were deliberately lit.

Two suspects have been identified. One was wearing a white baseball hat, white shirt, black puffy jacket, blue jeans, and white high-top runners. The other was wearing a dark hoodie with a white shirt underneath, black pants, and black Nike runners with a white swoosh.

Physical descriptions of the actual suspects have either not been identified or shared.

“Thankfully the fire was quickly extinguished and did not result in any injuries to residents inside the apartment building,” says Cpl. Vanessa Munn. “We want to encourage residents in the area to be vigilant and report all suspicious activity.”

If you have information that could help investigators with this arson case, you’re asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
