There will be a different, but familiar voice doing the in-house announcing at Thursday’s Vancouver Canucks game at Rogers Arena.
CityNews and Sportsnet’s Caroline Frolic will be the one introducing the players and announcing goals and penalties. The regular PA announcer, Al Murdoch, is taking the night off.
Frolic says there are lots of emotions swirling ahead of the game.
“I’m nervous, excited, humbled, and honoured. This is the team I’ve cheered for since before I knew what cheering for a team was,” she said.
Frolic adds opportunities like this one are not often offered to women.
“That fact is not lost on me. Hopefully, there will be more opportunities like this for women across the league and across all pro sports.”

Frolic is a sports anchor with CityNews and one of the hosts of OT with Caroline, Lindsey and Lina for Sportsnet 650.
“I already know the teams inside and out. I just have to make sure that I focus, and get the information out clearly and correctly,” she added ahead of Thursday’s game.
“Here’s hoping I get to say the words ‘Vancouver goal’ a whole lot this evening!”
Frolic will also fill-in at other Canucks games this season.
