Former Vancouver police officer sentenced to year in jail, on sex offender registry

A former Vancouver police officer who sexually assaulted a woman over two years ago in Whistler has been sentenced to a year in jail.
BC Prosecution Service confirms Jagraj “Roger” Berar will also be listed on the national sex offender registry for 10 years. He is also required to submit a DNA sample.
Berar was charged in November 2019 after a months-long investigation by the RCMP. He was with the force when the assault happened in July of that year.

Berar, who lives in Surrey, was found guilty in October 2021.
He is no longer part of the Vancouver Police Department.
