After the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins, the Foo Fighters have cancelled their upcoming tour dates, including the stop in Vancouver.

The rock band was set to play Rogers Arena on Oct. 5, but that show is among dozens cancelled. Ticketmaster says refunds for locals will be issued within 30 days.

The band had been scheduled to play at the Grammy Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday as well as spring dates at the Beale Street Music Festival; the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival; Columbia, Maryland; Raleigh, North Carolina; Daytona Beach, Florida; Charlotte, North Carolina; the Boston Calling Music Festival; and summer dates in Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France and the UK.

In an announcement via Twitter, the Foo Fighters confirmed the tour cancellation “in light of the staggering loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins. We’re sorry for and share in the disappointment that we won’t be seeing one another as planned.”

The statement goes on to read “let’s take this time to grieve, to heal, to pull our loved ones close, and to appreciate all the music and memories we’ve made together.”

Hawkins died March 25 in a hotel room in Colombia after suffering from chest pains.

The 50-year-old leaves a lasting legacy on the music scene, having played with the band alongside frontman Dave Grohl since 1997. He played on the band’s biggest albums including “One by One” and “In Your Honor,” and on hit singles like “Best of You.”

Prior to joining the Foo Fighters, Hawkins drummed with Alanis Morissette on her Jagged Little Pill tour.

In lead singer David Grohl’s 2021 book “The Storyteller,” he called Hawkins his “brother from another mother, my best friend, a man for whom I would take a bullet.”

In addition to the Vancouver show, the band also had Victoria and Penticton stops scheduled for the fall.
